Design and build of a mobile/semi-permanent hydrogen refuelling unit(s) for HyFlyer project.
The scope of work includes the design of the hydrogen refuelling solution required to satisfy the supply needs at Cranfield Airport, Cranfield by March 2020 and from Kirkwall Airport, Orkney by May 2020. This system should be capable of delivering 20 kg loads of hydrogen per test at a pressure of 350 bar with capability of up to 50 kg available daily.
The solution for both locations can act independently or be presented as one transportable system which can be deployed between locations.
Using locally constrained renewable energy, EMEC aims to supply green hydrogen to the system, however options for ‘onsite’ generation of hydrogen will also be considered. If supplied, green hydrogen would come in bespoke MEGC trailers, currently used to transport gas locally in Orkney. Trailers are capable of delivering 250 kg of hydrogen at 200 bar pressure.
