NGU needs a reliable automated cryogenic SQUID magnetometer for paleo- and rock magnetic measurements. The system must allow for automated measurements of natural remanent magnetization, anhysteretic magnetization and induced magnetization of small magnetic moments down to 10-9 Am2 in sediment u-channels (up to 150 cm length) and single samples (< 3x3x3 cm).
The instrument should be based on a pulse tube cryocooler allowing for completely liquid helium free operation, and effectively shield the samples from the external magnetic field during operation. Alternating field demagnetization must be possible for 0- 150 mT in transverse and 0-300 mT in longitudinal direction.
The inline pulse magnetizer should be able to achieve 0- 700 mT in longitudinal direction. Instrument and operation software must be qualified, tested, and referenced for paleomagnetic measurements. Installation, system test and training must be included.
