This procurement is to cover the requirement for Radar Flight performance checks to be made periodically and with tolerance levels that must provide an adequate margin of safety as Radar surveillance systems should provide agreed levels of accuracy and uniformity of information to users. The contract will be for a duration of 1 years with 2 1-year extension options (maximum of 3 years) and will run from 15.5.2017 until 14.5.2020 (maximum).
In the event of a radar not achieving the SRD criteria in a flight check, or when flight checks do not take place at the appropriate periodicity, the provisions within the equipment safety case are contravened and the engineering authority cannot provide assurance that the system is safe to use. As a consequence, there is a requirement for performance checks to be made periodically and with tolerance levels that must provide an adequate margin of safety as Radar surveillance systems should provide agreed levels of accuracy and uniformity of information to users. The contract is for the provision of flight checking services for the Air BM force surveillance radars for a maximum period of 3 years (1+1+1 years). The contractor will be expected to provide appropriately equipped aircraft to conduct the flight checks on a number of fixed and deployed assets in the U.K. From time to time some ad-hoc flight checks may also be required in the U.K. and as a non-core part of the requirement in the Falkland Islands and other overseas locations.
