The University of York has had a long term aim to establish a ?one campus? energy strategy. It is hoped that this project will allow this aim to be achieved. Due to historical reasons, the University"s existing district heating system presently has to cater for two different operating flow and return water temperatures. As a result of the historic design conditions the University is unable to reduce the operating temperature of the circuit on its Heslington West campus without impacting on the performance of the heat emitting equipment, which presently serves the heating and domestic hot water needs of this campus. The aim of this project is to establish new heat emitting equipment, in the form of plate heat exchangers (PHX), to replace both the existing heating and hot water calorifiers serving these systems. This contract is for the supply and installation of the plate heat exchangers and the upgrade of associated controls. The PHX are to be installed between July and October 2014. Further details will be provided in the tender documentation.
