IT services: consulting, software development, Internet and support. The Transport Direct portal (www.transportdirect.info) provides multi-modal journey planning and associated travel information throughout Great Britain. The portal relies on a number of datasets to support its running, and this contract is for the collation and management of the National public transport access nodes (NaPTAN) database (a database holding details of every bus stop, rail station, airport, ferry terminal and tram/underground station in Great Britain); the National public transport Gazetteer (NPTG) database (a database of places (towns, cities and villages) within Great Britain) and the National coach services database (NCSD – a database of national coach services schedules). The service provider(s) will be responsible for ensuring that the databases are updated regularly with data supplied by local authorities and others, and that the data is made available for use by transport direct, traveline and others. The scope of this work also includes the provision of data quality analysis tools relating to the NaPTAN and NPTG data and public transport schedules. The main contract for the operation and development of the online journey planning transport direct service is managed by an existing supplier. The collation and management of public transport data contractor will be required to work closely with the supplier to ensure the end-to-end provision of service to TD users.
