In 2016, Vitens signed a contract with one supplier for the disposal of the various waste streams for all business units. This contract runs until 31-03-2024.
The collection, disposal and processing of (hazardous) waste must be carried out with expertise and in accordance with the applicable legal requirements. In a dynamic and changing market, the demand for a chain partner who can act as a waste coach and sustainability advisor is high. We focus on socially responsible procurement and look for optimisation in the collection, disposal and processing of waste in a circular economy.
In order to arrive at the current tender strategy, a CFT (Cross Functional Team) has been formed with various disciplines from the organization. In addition, advice was sought from consultancy firm United Quality. They have broad expertise in the waste processing market and have insight into the possibilities of the various market parties.
