Description:
Assessment of the impact of activities in the field of active protection in the natural habitat code: 7140 i.e. transitional peat bogs and quaking bogs in the Natura 2000 area Ostoja Jaśliska PLH180014

1. The subject of the contract is to assess the impact of activities in the field of active protection in the natural habitat code: 7140 i.e. transitional peat bogs

And quaking bogs in the Natura 2000 area Ostoja Jaśliska PLH180014.

2. A detailed description of the subject of the contract is set out in Annex 1 to the ToR.

The subject of the contract is the service of assessing the impact of activities in the field of active protection in the natural habitat code: 7140 i.e. transitional peat bogs and quaking bogs in the Natura 2000 Ostoja Jaśliska PLH180014 area after the completion of conservation tasks, i.e. maintaining and improving the condition of transitional peat bogs through clearing and manual mowing, resulting from the plan of conservation tasks for the Ostoja Jaśliska area, by conducting as-built monitoring and comparison of the received data with the results of pre-execution monitoring, i.e. "Nature expertise for activities in the area of Ostoja Jaśliska" carried out in 2019 as part of project No. POIŚ.02.04 .00-00-0108 / 16 Monday "Protection of habitats and species of non-forest areas dependent on waters", implemented under Axis II, measure 2.4 of the Operational Program Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020.

Purpose of assessing the impact of active protection activities

1. Data collected during the implementation of as-built monitoring will form the basis for determining the effects of activities in the field of active protection, undertaken under the project, by comparing the state of the habitat before and after the activities to determine their effectiveness.

2. The subject of the contract includes the assessment of the impact of conservation measures carried out on patches of natural habitat code: 7140, i.e. transitional peat bogs and bogs, located at two sites, i.e.

a) stand no. 1 - plot no. 555, Wisłok Wielki precinct, Rymanów forest district, division 350;

b) stand no. 2 - plot no. 41, district of Rudawka Jaśliska, forest inspectorate Rymanów, branch 81.

5. Scope of work

5.1 The subject of the contract includes in particular:

a) familiarizing the Contractor with the area covered by the contract, which should take place immediately before the performance of the field work of as-built monitoring, including:

- conducting a query of available literature materials that will allow preliminary recognition and characterization of the research area,

- conducting a preliminary field vision of the implementation area of the contract, which will be carried out at the expense of the Contractor;

b) mating of the habitat patches of transitional peat bogs and quaking bogs (usually with vegetation from Scheuchzerio-Caricetea) (code: 7140);

c) within each chartered habitat patch of transition mires and quaking bogs (usually with vegetation from Scheuchzerio-Caricetea) (code: 7140), designation of a transect of 200 m in length and 3 phytosociological photos (if the surface of the habitat patch does not allow to determine such a long transect, 1 or 2 phytosociological photos should be taken, depending on the possibilities);

d) on the basis of phytosociological photos and analysis of other indicators, assessment of the conservation status of each of the charted habitat patches, the following questions should be answered:

- within the patches indicated in the expert report, as patches of habitat No. 9 and No. 10, was there an increase in the population of species characteristic for the habitat code: 7140, and did the cover and species structure of mosses change within these patches ?;

- within the patches indicated in the expert study, as workstation No. 9 and No. 10, was there a decrease in the share of alien invasive species, expansive herbaceous species and the expansion of shrubs and undergrowth of trees in relation to the values of these indicators indicated in the study ?;

- did the protective actions carried out in the form of felling and mowing with complete removal of biomass contributed to the improvement of the condition of the studied habitat patches? If so, in what way?;

- whether the active protection measures carried out contributed to the improvement of the overall assessment of the above patches of habitats at the examined sites ?;

- did the active protection actions involving the removal of trees and shrubs contribute to the change of habitat parameters / indicators on the patches studied, including in particular cardinal indicators? (...)
