Stansted Airport require a third party to operate and manage the Airport consolidation centre on site. The consolidation centre which is currently 1 mile from the terminal building, receives and screens all the retail goods sold within the airside area. These are then delivered to the airside receiving area at times agreed with the retailer.
London Stansted Airport (STAL) are wishing to partner with an expert logistics partner to operate the goods in screening process for all retail partners via the consolidation centre, which is situated at Taylors End, approximately a mile away from the terminal building.
The consolidation centre is key to the Airport retail operation as all goods sold within the airside retail area need to pass through the centre and its regulated screening process before it can be transported airside. The consolidation centre is required to be operated by a company who are experienced in logistics and can demonstrate the capability of screening products to regulatory standards to ensure all goods that enter the airside area are safe.
London Stansted Airport are looking for a logistics partner who will have a flexible approach to working with them through the Stansted transformation programme, being able to respond to changes in terminal logistics routes, designs, adapting technology and services required to meet each change.
It is expected that the transformation programme will commence in Summer 2019 when the new arrivals building construction will start and is expected to be completed in autumn 2020. The departures building conversion will then commence summer 2020 and be completed in 2021.
The logistics partner should drive value and continuous improvement for current and future operational requirements. ‘Value added’ activities such as storage, pick and pack, order assembly will be encouraged and offered to retail and catering clients at best cost.
