The Autobahn GmbH des Bundes is planning a 6-lane expansion of the existing A 8 motorway between the Ulm-West junction and the Elchingen junction. The upgraded line has a length of 11,280 km and is divided into 2

In the course of the A8, a total of 13 structures within the construction area are affected by the motorway expansion. In the area of the AK Ulm/Elchingen, the UF exist as complete structures, which currently consist of up to 4 partial structures (TBW). Of the 13 total structures, 12 are consisting - 6 overpasses (UEF), which are already designed for the 6-lane expansion and can therefore be maintained unchanged, as well as 6 underpasses (UF). Of these, three UFs will be replaced, and three UFs will be partially distributed (in TBW) or expanded by additional TBW in the area of the AK Ulm/Elchingen as complete structures.
An additional overpass will be built in the area of the AS Oberelchingen for the planned cycle and footpath connection. The planning package discussed here includes the plans for the construction of a new cycle and pedestrian overpass in construction km 48+654 of the A8 in the area of the Oberelchingen motorway.
In the course of the expansion of the A 8, the Oberelchingen junction (AS-Nr. 64) will be adapted to the requirements of a modern, traffic-safe and efficient motorway junction. As a result, the currently existing service road connection, which is currently used by cyclists and pedestrians without further structural separation, will no longer apply. In the process, the southern farm road is suspended and transferred to the lateral farm road network and the northern way to the dirt road network. In order to enable a safe crossing of the A 8 for pedestrians and cyclists, an overpass over the A 8 for cyclists and pedestrians is to be planned.
The planning task includes the service phases 1, 2, 3 and 6 of the object planning and the service phases 2, 3 and 6 of the structural design for a new construction of a cycle and sidewalk overpass. The planning of the construction stages, as well as the obstructions or temporary facilities required for the construction of the building, are part of the planning order.
