As part of the STEP AS 2025 expansion step, Basel SBB GB will be partially renewed to ensure its long-term survival. Planned adjustments:

- the sidings E22 - E25 and F81 - F90 will be extended to the maximum possible length. Track group E 83 - E85 is limited to the east,

- In the west, the wheelset competence center will be integrated into the parking facilities with a second additional track F80,

- all new tracks will be electrified so that the existing and the new area of the parking facilities can be used electrically throughout,

- The access road to signal box IV and the (SBB) VU buildings will be relocated to the north between tracks E82 and E83.
