A mobility concept for Hamburg's new Oberbillwerder district has been developed in recent years and is currently being coordinated with Hamburg's specialist authorities. The concept is in a preliminary final state. In the course of the further development of Oberbillwerder as well as the elaboration of the in-depth planning, an ongoing review and updating of the mobility concept is necessary.

As a municipal project developer, IBA Hamburg GmbH has been commissioned with the project development, development and marketing of Oberbillwerder in the Bergedorf district, in addition to other project areas. With around 118 hectares, Oberbillwerder is not only Hamburg's second largest urban development project, it will also become Hamburg's 105th district. Oberbillwerder is to become a mixed-use, urban district with 6,000-7,000 residential units, up to 5,000 jobs and the highest quality of innovative mobility.
For continuous and holistic control of the development process, the Hamburg Senate has set up a separate development company, IBA Projektentwicklungsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG (IPEG).
