Packaging and transport of works of art from the depots of the Museum of Islamic Art
The Pergamon Museum on Berlin's Museum Island was built between 1910 and 1930 and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. For this purpose, the removal or relocation of the entire depot holdings is necessary within the framework of the "Restoration and Construction Clearance (RuB)".
The objects relevant to this call for proposals come from the collection of the Museum of Islamic Art (ISL).
The objects to be processed are a large number of archaeological engraving finds. The objects consist mainly of (glazed) ceramics and stucco as well as metal, stone, glass and organic materials. The total of approximately 88,000 objects are currently stored separately according to material and/or collection focus in a total of 5 depots on different levels in the south wing of the Pergamon Museum. The main subject of the bill of quantities is the packaging and transport of small to medium-sized objects from the depots to various destinations.
The tendered service includes all tasks of art transport logistics, i.e. the production and provision of packaging materials made of paper, plastic and wood, the provision of transport aids, the takeover and control of the objects, their packaging and load securing as well as the provision of the loading and conveying means required for the transports.
In addition, the delivery and installation of soil protection materials and the production of a ramp as well as pallet trucks and, if necessary, assembly lifts for the in-house transports in the PMU are required.
The continuation of object and transport lists (so-called directory work) as well as the marking of transport aids and transport units by means of barcodes is also an important part of the service. The service concludes with the transport and handover of the objects at the destinations, which in part includes the unpacking and storage of the (packaged) objects in the existing shelving systems and storage areas at the various destinations.
