Description:
Young Gardens Torgau TB 5 Eichwiese, Lot 11 Arche - House for Animals

At the eastern end of the Eichwiese, a petting zoo with local animal breeds - the Torgauer Arche - is to be built.

A central stable building contains protective shelters for animals (donkeys, woolly pigs, sheep, rabbits, swallows) with access to the adjoining outdoor enclosures and rooms for their management (animal keepers), another somewhat secluded shelter (alpacas) also serves as an insect house and is e.g. Partly stocked and maintained by school classes.

A classic wooden frame construction (pine) is placed on concrete strip foundations and a concrete splash protection base, which is clad on one side with OSB panels and wooden cladding (Douglas fir). The building roofs consisting of glued laminated timber beams, OSB panels and sheet metal cladding slope upwards on the outside and have a wide roof overhang to create entry and nesting opportunities for swallows. The farm road and visitor passage is covered by a pergola with applied polycarbonate panels.

The alpaca / insect house will be equipped with an extensive green roof.

The total area of the two constructions is 260 square meters, the maximum height is 4.00 m.

There are a total of 10 wooden doors, 1 2-leaf wooden gate and a sliding gate in the buildings. Both buildings are uninsulated cold rooms and have one storey; they are provided with electricity and water connections. The roof sections in the central main building are drained inwards.
