A nanoindenter for mechanical property determinations is to be procured. The quotation to be prepared must take into account the contents and specifications from the terms of reference.

The landing head must have separate force and displacement measurement mechanisms, with electromagnetic force actuation, to enable precise and accurate force control through a simple linear relationship between applied current and generated load, and capacitive-based displacement sensing technology.
The country must provide a high-temperature penetration option with heating of the sample up to 500 °C:
o Heating of the stage and sample by a precise high-power diode laser.
o Independent heating of the tip and sample to avoid heat transfer mechanisms.
o Heating and cooling rates in the range of 20 - 25 K/s.
o Internal gas supply to reduce oxidation and active cooling to dissipate waste heat.
The country needs a three-dimensional quantitative analysis for scratch tests and wear tests. Pre-scan topographic analysis, post-scan topographic analysis, and cross-section topographic scans must be included in the scratch methodology.
The landenter must enable quasi-static high-speed mapping with penetration speeds of 1 second per indentation for hardness and stiffness determination. Sample ranges up to 400 μm x 400 μm should be able to be determined with at least 100,000 penetration attempts. The indenter tip must detach from the surface before moving the X-V axes between tests to minimize wear.
The country must have an ambient isolation enclosure to reduce noise and temperature gradients. The enclosure must provide temperature and humidity measurements with the measurements specified in the test data. In addition, the structure must integrate an anti-vibration table.
The offer must include:
o at least 2 Berkovich indenter tips
o at least one conical shape with a tip radius of 5 μm
o at least one flat punch tip with a diameter of 5 μm
The country shall be able to measure the yield strength and strain on metal specimens using the truncated cone stress-strain technique to determine the yield strength and the full stress-strain curve including the strain hardening exponent to quantify the plastic flow behavior. The results of yield strength and hardening must be reported.
Make KLA Instruments "Nanolndenter G200X" or equivalent.
