The town hall of the city of Straelen, built in 1969, no longer meets the spatial requirements of the Straelen city administration despite various extensions, conversions and additions. In addition, the lack of accessibility and the high energy demand were identified as further deficits of the existing building.

In May 2021, the Straelen City Council decided to build a new town hall. As a result, a building construction and open space planning competition was held for the construction. Here, the competition design by the architectural firm Michael van Ooyen Freie Architekten was able to prevail.

The construction project is to take into account the criteria of energy efficiency, CO2 savings and the use of renewable energies. At the heart of the architectural firm's design is the preservation of the building fabric and thus the use of the grey energy stored in it. This significantly reduces the CO2 footprint of the construction project, conserves resources and minimizes waste. Subsidies are planned for the measure.

The city of Straelen is looking for reliable, expert and efficient planning offices for the services of structural engineering, fire protection, technical building equipment and building physics, which can perform the planning tasks efficiently, sustainably and in compliance with the principle of economic efficiency.

Short response times for feedback and on-site appointments are crucial for the success of the project.

The city of Straelen expects its contractors to provide high professional quality, innovation and creativity in mutual loyalty, support and consideration.
