As part of the "Federal Funding for Efficient Heating Networks" (BEW), a concrete decarbonisation path for district heating in Halle is to be developed with the help of a heat transformation plan (WTP) in order to achieve greenhouse gas neutrality in heat supply by 2045. The potentials of a decarbonised district heating supply in the Halle (Saale) area are to be analysed and demonstrated and supported by the necessary measures on the basis of future development paths. Based on this, an adequate district heating target network must be developed. EVH GmbH strives to develop resilient strategies that set the path until 2045 and advance and enable the implementation of innovative and sustainable projects.
The tendered Lot 8 "Planning services in the district heating network" comprises two areas of responsibility. On the one hand, the replacement of a district heating pipeline section laid in the collecting duct is planned. This section plays a paramount role in supplying the Halle-Neustadt district and also ensures the interconnected operation of EVH's two power plants. The dimensions of the new district heating pipelines are to be adapted to the predicted consumption development in Halle-Neustadt as well as to the future grid parameters - in particular, the prospective reduction of grid flow temperatures as part of the energy transition should be mentioned. Different routing options are to be examined, which are to be compared with regard to their technical design and the costs incurred for this. On the other hand, the Paulusviertel residential district, which is centrally located in Halle, is to be connected to the district heating network. The neighbourhood is currently supplied with heat via an island grid, which is powered by heat generators that are heated with fossil fuels. With the replacement of the current heat generators by the reconnection, an important contribution will be made to the decarbonization of the city of Halle. Initial estimates have identified a hydraulic bottleneck in the existing pipeline further south for the connection of the island grid to the district heating network. In order to adequately supply the existing customers of the island grid, it is therefore necessary to create a further mesh to increase capacity. In addition, the scam is necessary to increase the connection density in the Paulusviertel district and to open up new areas with district heating.
