Applied research services on 6G open networks for the design and development of experimentation platforms, the use of federated learning techniques in highly mobile scenarios

The purpose of this contract is the provision of Research and Development services in 6G technologies, within the framework of the Coordinated Project "Open RAN networks for revolutionary 6G systems"

Applied research services for the design of a platform for the development and testing of 6G open access networks that allow the automation of AI-controlled networks

The purpose of lot 1 is to design an OPEN6G development and test platform for the automation of AI-controlled networks. The design will follow the O-RAN framework to adopt the AI-based automation enhancements proposed for advanced 5G and 6G networks. In addition, it shall be designed taking into account compatibility with ISAC systems for the realization of joint detection and communication systems and with intelligent surfaces.

Applied research services for the development of a platform for the development and testing of 6G open access networks that enable the automation of AI-controlled networks

The purpose of lot 2 is the development of the OPEN6G development and test platform for the automation of AI-controlled networks, previously designed in lot 1 of this contract. A laboratory prototype of this platform will be developed and used to validate different AI-controlled solutions. The prototype developed must be compatible with ISAC systems for the realization of joint detection and communication systems and with intelligent surfaces.

Applied research services on 6G for the study oriented to federated learning techniques in high mobility systems and realization of academic activities

The purpose of lot 3 is to study and implement a multi-agent intelligence solution whose objective is to enable an O-RAN-compatible system that supports advanced dynamic services in real time on demand, taking into account high mobility scenarios and with critical performance requirements and key performance indicators (KPIs, 6G technology. The multi-agent intelligence solution will be based on both AI and network programmability technologies and whose agents will collaborate through large-scale federated learning, delivering greater service continuity for users' devices while meeting the requirements of changing heterogeneous network environments and disaggregated computing. Secondly, this batch aims to maximise the impact of the results of the OPEN6G project through outstanding contributions to academic activities.

Applied research services for the analysis of technological problems and definition of innovative use cases applied to 6G open networks and smart surfaces

The purpose of lot 4 consists of the set of tasks to be carried out with the aim of studying the needs of the actors involved in the ecosystem of 6G open access networks.

With the realization of the aforementioned lot 4 of the contractual object, the contracting authority intends to cover the following needs and / or functionalities:

Analysis of technological problems and definition of innovative use cases applied to O-RAN networks and smart surfaces with the aim of: Enable the needs of future 6G systems that include automation of network actions through AI; Enable the needs of future 6G systems that include mobile sensing and ISAC technologies; Enable the needs of future 6G systems that include smart surfaces.

Research services applied to the use of Artificial Intelligence technologies for the detection, analysis and action of anomalies in 6G networks

The object of lot 5 consists of the set of tasks to be carried out in order to study anomaly detection algorithms and tools to simplify and automate the use of these systems in O-RAN networks.

With the realization of the aforementioned lot 5 of the contractual object, the contracting authority intends to cover the following needs and / or functionalities: Analysis, detection and action in the face of anomalous behavior in advanced or 6G 5G networks; Support for the automation of network management through the design and development of AI-based anomaly detection algorithms.

Research services applied to the design and evaluation of optimization and automation solutions for 6G open mobile networks

The purpose of lot 6 consists of the set of tasks to be carried out in order to design, develop and evaluate a programming and orchestration solution based on AI technologies to manage the different components automatically and intelligently, from the radio segment to the core of 6G networks.

With the realization of the aforementioned lot 6 of the contractual object, the contracting authority intends to cover the following needs and / or functionalities: Management of the 6G network through multi-objective deep reinforcement learning technologies (MO-DRL, for its terminology in English) that can be optimized following multiple objectives simultaneously; Review of the state of the art, the design of a MO-DRL solution compatible with the open network platform studied in the OPEN6G project and the joint evaluation of the system.

Research services applied to the design and evaluation of detection and communication solutions in 6G open mobile networks

The object of lot 7 consists of the set of tasks to be carried out in order to design and evaluate an ISAC system.

With the realization of the aforementioned lot 7 of the contractual object, the contracting authority intends to cover the following needs and / or functionalities: The study of detection and communication, performance counterparts and channel models applied to ISAC systems; Address challenges, applications, performance requirements and research directions for the design of ISAC systems in 6G; Review of the state of the art, the design of an ISAC solution compatible with the open network platform studied in the OPEN6G project and the joint evaluation of the system.

Research services applied to the design and evaluation of sensing and communication solutions with intelligent surface support in 6G open mobile networks

The object of lot 8 consists of the set of tasks to be carried out with the aim of designing and evaluating specific modules for the learning and orchestration of control planes and data through data analysis, which are essential to make networks based on reconfigurable intelligent surfaces an integrated communication platform, Detection, localization and computation.

With the realization of the aforementioned lot 8 of the contractual object, the contracting authority intends to cover the following needs and / or functionalities: Design and evaluate specific modules for the learning and orchestration of control and data planes through data analysis, which are essential to make RIS-based networks an integrated communication platform, detection, localization and computing; Research applied to the study of a specific control plane for RIS; Review of the state of the art for the design of an ISAC solution that makes use of smart surfaces and that is compatible with the open network platform studied in the OPEN6G project and the joint evaluation of the system.
