The James Hutton Institute is an international research centre based in Scotland. The work it undertakes is right at the top of the global agenda and involves tackling some of the world's most challenging problems including the impact of climate change and threats to food and water security.

The Institute's work takes place at 2 centres in Aberdeen and Dundee and the contract is being offered for a fixed and inclusive price to 1 contractor through an open single stage competitive tender exercise.

The contract will be awarded to one supplier and will not be lotted.

Contract value = 2 000 000 GBP over the 3 years.

Scope (Catering)

The James Hutton Institute invites tenders for the full supply of catering and cleaning services for a fixed and inclusive price, based upon the terms and conditions supplied at:

There are currently up to 320 stakeholders eligible to participate in the catering services on this site. There is some seasonal variance in the Dundee site as some extra staff members are employed on two adjoining farms over the summer months.

The facilities are open throughout the year but closed over the Christmas period. and

Scope (Cleaning for both sites)

The Client requires the successful contractor to provide a clean premises that is fit for purpose at all times and who is proactive in the management of the contract, thus ensuring that all specifications are achieved Currently the Client's premises are cleaned during the evenings. However, there is a requirement for specific cleaning to take place during office hours.

You should ensure that provision is made for:

— Consumables.

— Carpet Deep Cleaning for Front Office, Directors' Offices and Board Room and other Meeting Rooms.

— Deep Cleaning Staff Kitchen Areas.

— Cleaning of laboratories and some greenhouses.

— There is also a requirement to clean 2 cottages on the Dundee site, each with 2 bedrooms as they are used as well as 4 bedrooms on the Aberdeen site. These are available for overnight accommodation for staff visiting the site. Take up levels vary but average cleaning staff time would likely be 1-2 hours per week. This service should be regarded as a call off service and will be an additional cost which will be invoiced separately.
