Kempens Landschap and the municipality of Heist-op-den-Berg wish to restore the castle and the depot (excluding conservatory and aviary) of Hof Ter Laken in Booischot, both of which are recognized as a monument, in the coming years. This includes both an exterior and interior restoration, as well as the renewal of the techniques.
We want to be able to determine more or less what function the buildings will have in the course of 2020. The restoration must be geared to this as far as possible. The interior needs to be restored and finished in such a way that it is ready for an operator to further furnish with furniture, sanitary fittings, lighting fixtures and other appliances tailored to his project (such as a kitchen, if necessary).
The RUP provides that a section of new construction can be provided, both behind the castle and behind the depot. The design and realization thereof is not part of this assignment. To make this possible, two smaller buildings must disappear behind the depot. This work is part of the present assignment and is part of the Interreg North-West Europe project “Digital DeConstruction”. The two buildings will be dismantled and deconstructed in the course of 2021-2022 with maximum retention of reusable materials, together with the interior of the north wing of the depot, as a pilot case for a new decision tool for the demolition of buildings within the circular economy. In the vicinity of the depot, a new parking lot must also be realized, as well as a road to it.
