South Lanarkshire Council operates a small/medium telephone estate encompassing some 200 sites. The estate is built up predominantly of systems serving primary schools, Sports Centres, Leisure Facilities and Social Work Residential units.

The estate comprises of systems varying in size, age and manufacturer. Each system provides telephony features and functionality such as desk-to-desk dialling, access to the public telephone network (PSTN), and voicemail.
