The object of this award is the commissioning of a framework agreement for the provision of a software system for the implementation of future on-demand offers in the area of the VRN, as well as the implementation of related consulting services.

These include in particular:

— the contractor's provision of a software solution as a “software-as-a-service” (short: SaaS),

— the provision of an associated passenger app that allows passengers to book an on-demand offer,

— the provision of an associated driver's user app to communicate travel requests and routes to drivers,

— maintenance, service and support of the system,

—Consulting and support in planning, implementing, implementing and analyzing on-demand offerings.

VRN GmbH intends to procure a unified on-demand software as a framework agreement or license model (“Software as a Service”) as a basis for the implementation of on-demand transport in the entire network area.

The use of the on-demand software should be mandatory in future procurement procedures for transport services (at the level of the line bundles). The aim is to reduce barriers to access for the transport companies ('equal to the competition') and to implement uniform standards in the VRN area.

The on-demand system consists of background software, a passenger app and a driver app. It is gradually integrated into the Electronic Mobility Information and the Electronic Mobility Platform, and thus into the IT architecture of the VRN.

The main functionalities of the software include information for passengers, booking and payment of journeys, efficient disposition of vehicles and drivers in the background. In addition, support and advisory services in the implementation of on-demand traffic are the subject of the contract.
