The Contracting Authority is an Academy Trust, a charitable company limited by guarantee, that operates a secondary school and 6th form college serving the communities of Walton on Thames, Hersham, Cobham and West Molesey. The school has approximately 1,100 students on roll but is set to expand over the next decade to 1,500 or possibly beyond.
The School is based on a single site, but it benefits from a quantity of land held surplus to its requirements and in excess of national guidelines for the provision of playing fields. A master plan has therefore been developed under which the built part of the site will be sold for redevelopment and the proceeds invested in the construction of a new school on what are currently playing fields. The planned opening date of the new school is 1 September 2016. The School will continue to operate from its current premises until the new school is ready to occupy.
The Contracting Authority wishes to appoint a Project Manager and a Cost Consultant to work as part of the client team to oversee delivery of the Master Plan. The roles will focus on the construction of the new school but will not be limited to it, as the appointees will also oversee the disposal of the enabling development site. It is envisaged that the Project Manager will be appointed in time to lead the selection process for the core design team.
