The market development programme of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) is intended to make it easier for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the self-employed in the commercial sector as well as subject-related liberal professions and business-related service providers with business operations in Germany to enter new markets and to lead to further success of export activities.

The object of the service is the implementation of a multi-year project to support companies in the strategic and successive processing and development of a target market as well as the sustainable establishment of contacts and business relationships in this target market. The participating companies are to work together in a network to strategically work on a selected target market and gradually develop it. The spectrum of foreign trade promotion is available to the "joint projects", in particular various modules of the MEP such as webinars, information events, business initiations, performance shows, information trips and market explorations are to build strategically on each other as subprojects of the joint module. The programme planning for the overall and the respective sub-projects is the responsibility of the implementer. For the implementation of the project, the General Terms and Conditions for the Implementation of the Module as well as the specifications of the attached guidelines (General Guidelines for The Network and Individual Modules) apply.

The industry expert for the sub-sector of the food processing industry, who is based at the Delegation of German Business in Ghana (AHK Ghana), must be professionally involved.

The project implementation shall be subject to the provisions of the General Conditions of Implementation (ABD) of the Module Partner for International Business Development (Appendix 1) and attached guidelines (Appendix 2-2f).

With the Africa Business Network, the BMWK supports SMEs based or established in Germany in particular in opening up new markets in Africa. The Africa Business Network provides companies that want to become economically active in Africa with a comprehensive range of information and advice. They are referred to the actors and offers of foreign trade promotion and development cooperation and accompanied on their way to Africa from initial project ideas to market entry. In addition, the Africa Economic Network provides additional measures to promote foreign trade.
