Object planning according to §§ 33ff. as well as outdoor facilities according to §§ 39ff. HOAI for LPH 1 and 2 as multiple orders within the framework of a subsequent processing procedure (processing time approx. 10 weeks)
Today, the Lindenau Museum Altenburg is facing the biggest structural changes since its construction by Julius Robert Enger. Functional and technical requirements from the new museum concept make appropriate adjustments, further developments and conversions necessary, especially in the basement at the time of origin. In doing so, enger's design idea must be continued in its history and national significance as a cultural monument in the context of function, form and design. Only in this way can the house be a place for sustainable forms of mediation and presentation.
The coordinated overall planning concept follows the original idea of redevelopment, to integrate the museum and educational uses with the associated spatial and technical requirements into the existing buildings in accordance with monument regulations. In the context of the access area from the north and the development of the entire building, urgently needed programme areas led to a structural extension of the northern basement to the "barrier-free city floor". Initial considerations in the context of the overall planning process that is already underway did not find sufficient public acceptance.
In terms of construction and monument preservation, the focus of the task is in particular on the consideration of urban spatial pathways and visual axes when integrating the "city floor" into the topography of the castle garden as well as the search for a creative answer to symmetry, tectonics and materiality of the rising building.
In the context of a much-noticed expert discussion on 09.04.2022, the national importance of the building was once again emphasized and the scope of the previously available intervention options was emphasized. The expert panel is representatively involved in the evaluation committee for the procedure described below.
The Altenburger Land District Office as the client and the Lindenau Museum Altenburg as the user, in coordination with the funding agencies and with the support of an evaluation committee, are conducting a negotiation procedure with a participation competition to commission alternative preliminary design ideas for the redesign of this entrance area to the Lindenau Museum, which is important for the city of Altenburg. As a result of the participation competition, there will be multiple assignments to up to three suitable applicants. Three other participants in the post-negotiated processing procedure have been selected. The required aptitude test has already been carried out in advance for the selected participants. The relevant offices can be found in the contract notice.
On the basis of the decision of the evaluation committee, the client intends to commission the winning participant of the procedure with the artistic direction for the implementation of his design idea and the creation of design-determining guiding details in cooperation with the planning architectural office.
