With the increasing spread of smartphones, their use in road traffic, driving cars and bicycles, as well as walking, has also increased. In particular, the applications of these devices, which involve long averted glances from the traffic situation, pose a high risk potential. Data on the prevalence of smartphone use in road traffic therefore provide a basis for road safety assessment as well as for the development and monitoring of road safety measures.

This project is intended to continue the surveys carried out for the first time in 2022 on the frequency of use of smartphones in car, bicycle and pedestrian traffic.
