Bassetlaw District Council and Newark and Sherwood District Council (hereafter referred to as ‘the Councils’) are located in northern Nottinghamshire. The combined Council districts of the 2 authorities make up the bulk of North Nottinghamshire and cover several towns including Newark, Worksop and Retford as well as numerous villages and rural locations.
Both Councils have a statutory duty, under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, to make adequate arrangements to seize any dog found to be straying in a public place or on private land (with the land owner's permission). Additionally, they also have a duty to accept into their care, a stray dog found by a member of the public.
Each year the Councils receive or collect approximately 800 stray dogs from across their combined areas.
Tenders are being sought for the provision of Dog Warden Services to cover the districts of both authorities.
1. The Councils are inviting bids for the provision of Dog Warden Services operating during normal working hours, to cover both Council's districts. Dog Warden Services must comprise a collection service (for straydogs), promotion, education and supporting enforcement.
2. The Council will require a guarantee for 12 months for any work undertaken.
3. The Contract length is 2 years with the option to extend for an additional 1 year and then another 1 year.
