Description:

The overall objective of the Procurement is to contribute to reduced emissions of black carbon from residential wood combustion for heating purposes (wood stoves and wood boilers) in the Arctic. Recommendations on possible instruments and measures to reduce emissions from residential wood combustion in the Arctic will be done based on national BC emissions inventories and available mitigation experiences from Norway, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, USA, Canada and Russia.

The recommendations will include instruments and measures for abatement of black carbon emissions from residential wood combustion as well as suggestions of feasibility studies or on-the ground demonstration projects.

Reduced emissions of black carbon from residential wood combustion will contribute to the mitigation of climate change. Impacts of black carbon emissions are particularly significant in the Arctic due to accelerated melting of snow and ice.

Based on collected and assessed information and to the extent possible, the project will give the Arctic Monotoring and Assessment Programme (AMAP) the possibility to better quantify the current regional climate impacts and future mitigation possibilities.

NB! Optional announcement in TED, procurement value is below the EEA threshold.
