The project shall make use of statistical methods and big data for crime forecasting Under headings such as predictive policing, crime forecasting and big data policing, statistical method development has contributed to new ways of using crime statistics. The project will apply similar approaches and methods to draw conclusions about future crime trends. The project can also be based on known factors that research which has shown to affect crimes and analysing how much these factors must change to have a noticeable impact on crime statistics. The project can also include studying the significance of factors that are not well known in the literature, for instance services such as public transport, design of public spaces, etc. and how public spaces are designed regarding street lighting, etc.

This is a method for developing crime forecasts. The project can also include studying the significance of factors that are not well known in the literature, for instance services such as public transport, design of public spaces, etc. and how public spaces are designed regarding street lighting, etc.

The draft of the final report must be submitted by 1.10.2024. The final report shall be delivered by 10.11.2024.

The cost framework, subject to approval from the Storting, is:

2023: NOK 1,000,000 excluding VAT.

2024: NOK 1,000,000 excluding VAT.
