Description:
Calculations for the continuation of the HWGK in the catchment areas of Enz and Erms

In Baden-Württemberg there are HWGK for around 11,300 river kilometers, which are to be updated step by step. The HWGK meet the requirements of the EG-HWRM-RL as well as the very high requirements of §65 Wassergesetz BW. They have a direct legal effect, which is why the quality requirement is correspondingly high. On approx. 172 km long waters in the catchment area of the Enz and approx. 58 km in the EZG of the Erms, the existing HWGK are to be continued. For this purpose, hydrological calculations and hydraulic calculations (2-dimensional, transient) must be carried out.The results are to be transferred to the HWGK data standard in further processing and the results are to be submitted in the specified data format.

The results of the HWGK initial compilation are freely accessible and can be called up at https://www.hochwasser.baden-wuerttemberg.de/.

Calculations for the continuation of the HWGK in the catchment area of the Enz

Objective: To update the flood hazard maps in the Enz study area.

Waters to be calculated: 172 km

Total EZG Enz: 2,229 km²

EZG without Enz upper reaches, without Glems, without EZG Kreuzbach, Strudelbach: 434 km²

Essentially:

- Acquisition and preparation of the provided geobasic and geotechnical data, the hydrology data (BFGM) as well as examination of the survey data.

- Check the di gital terrain model with incorporated water hose (TIN/TERRAIN) (basis: laser scan data from flying 2016 ff) and, if necessary, refine it with non-contained terrain structures and surveyed building structures. Preparation of data for the creation of hydraulic models.

In addition, a point cloud from a laser-scan flight along the Enz (without tributaries) with approx. 6 billion points will be provided.

- The hydrological work is to be carried out with the "Hydrological Basic Model BFGM", an FGM model (extension of the program FGM for the "area-detailed precipitation-runoff modelling in a complex catchment area" from the "Software Package Flood Analysis and Calculation" of LUBW/KIT). They include the adoption of the technically executable raw model for the study area provided by the client but not yet adapted to the discharge characteristics of the area (approx. 450 calculation nodes), the extension of the raw model to the detailed model by integrating and parameterizing additional nodes, the adaptation and validation of the runoff characteristics of the area on the basis of available HQT values, the calculation of discharge hydrographs with 3 Model variants for at least five annualities as well as data storage and provision of results and the model using Access databases, graphical longitudinal sections and FGM files.

- The hydrological modelling is limited to the Enz area from Pforzheim, below the Nagold tributary, without the Glems. The inflow from Enz above the Nagold, as well as the Nagold itself, should be simulated in a simplified way with a few knots (1,472 km² with about 5 knots). Likewise, the influence of the Glems (196 km² with about 10 knots), as well as the Kreuzbach/Strudelbach (126 km² with about 20 knots) can only be simplified to represent.

- Hydraulic 2D models must be created with the LASER_AS-2D / HydroAS software package. All hydraulically relevant structures in and around the water and on the forelands must be taken into account.

- Calculation of hydraulics (transient) with HydroAS according to the defined procedure for updating the HWGK (HQ10, HQ50, HQ100, HQ100oHRB, HQ1000 and sections HWextreme)

- Evaluation of the modelled calculations in relation to the mapping of the hydrological calculation quantities. Derivation of corrected flood surfaces, water level and flood depth rasters, acquisition of factual data and geometries

- For the 4 existing state gauges, gauge models are to be created according to the "Creation of 2D flow models for state gauges in Baden-Württemberg for the flood discharge spectrum data set waters".

- Several HW protection measures are planned and built in the area. These must be taken into account during processing.

- Documentation and coordination with the AG

A license for HydroAS is provided for the processing of this project. The 2D-HN calculation models HydroAS are to be submitted to the client together with the final report as SMS data records.

Further details see: "Description of the requirements for the project necessary for an update of the HWGK" – Version 1.6 of 3.11.2022" (draft) and "Description of the requirements for hydrological basic modelling necessary for an update of the HWGK". (draft). Both are already available in the participation competition in order to describe the task better and more clearly, so that the complexity of the task becomes clear.
