After extensive renovation, the Lahti History Museum will reopen in 2024. At the same time, the museum's temporary and permanent exhibition will be renewed. The exhibition space totals approximately 500 square metres. The invitation to tender concerns the procurement of technical design, manufacture and installation of the structures and furniture for the exhibitions.
The structures and furnishings have been designed as part of the exhibition design and include wall showcases and customizable display case systems for the central floors. In addition, there are a few performance technical implementations that involve exhibition structures and light partitions that divide the space or cover the wall. The display cases are ordered from the provider as a whole, which also includes lighting related to the display cases. AV technology integrated into display cases and exhibition structures is not included in the procurement. The production schedule will be divided into two parts, of which the part to be implemented by the end of 2023 will be the technical design of the exhibition structures and the manufacture and preparation of the structures at the contractor's premises. Another part to be implemented at the beginning of 2024 is the installation of structures and furniture at the museum. The client can also order exhibition structures after the opening of the museum in connection with permanent exhibition updates or changing exhibitions.
A more detailed description of the procurement can be found in the appendix "Lahti History Museum, description of the acquisition of exhibition structures and furniture". The total value of the procurement (including possible additional purchases) is estimated to be between EUR 480,000 and EUR 710,000. In exhibition production, the exhibition furniture and structures to be acquired form a logical industry-specific entity (exhibition construction) that must be qualitatively and visually consistent throughout the exhibition spaces.
