Bird's eye view of the project
An ever-growing world population and increasing pressure on the planet are leading to major food challenges. In addition, the choices we make every day in terms of food have an impact on our body and our environment. In order to provide everyone with sufficient, healthy and sustainable food in the future, a switch is needed to a different way of producing and consuming food.
In 2012, the WFC Foundation presented the concept for a World Food Center and Ede / FoodValley was chosen as the preferred location after an extensive selection process. The original concept from 2012 already stated that the WFC will become an independent place where knowledge, policy and activities are clustered and can meet intensively.
The World Food Center (WFC) brings together consumers and organizations and encourages them to take more responsibility and jointly find answers to contemporary and future food issues. The overarching theme for this initiative was: 'We feed each other'. The WFC will consist of several parts, namely: Food and Innovation Disctrict, WFC Park (a city area for living and working) and a WFC Experience.
The WFC Experience is an attractive food adventure with dialogue, education and certainly experience and fun. The Experience stimulates consumer awareness about food issues and how they can contribute to a healthier and more sustainable future for themselves and their environment.
