The World Bank (WB), the European Union (EU) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) will be financing a project to rehabilitate a 115 km section of the N2 Bissau-Mpack national road. This road is part of the Bissau-Ziguinchor road corridor, which itself is part of the Trans-African Highway No 7 Dakar-Lagos. The contributions from the EIB and the EU will be limited to rehabilitation works, excluding routine maintenance works, periodic maintenance and the reinforcement of roadways in accordance with the EIB statutes.
The support for the contracting authority will assist the promoter during the implementation of the project and will cover: procurement procedures; contract management; project accounting monitoring; environmental and social management; road safety and adaptation to climate change.
