Modernization of the firewall infrastructure of the district of Central Saxony

The Central Saxony District Office is planning to procure and implement a replacement and implementation of a clustered firewall solution. The components of the manufacturer Cisco in use, 2 components per cluster (for the internal/local network as well as the external connection), are to be replaced by the following firewall systems:

- Cisco Secure Firewall type Cisco ASA 3140

The aim is to maintain the existing homogeneous IT infrastructure with the VPN connections to a large number of branch offices, but at the same time to replace the core components in the redundant data center with more powerful components. The set of rules as well as the VPN connections to the connected branch offices are not to be completely recreated/configured, but largely taken over from the existing devices.

Summarized in quantitative terms, the measure comprises in total:

• 4 firewall systems in cluster operation (2 components per cluster) incl. accessories

• Set-up and commissioning services

• Service contract (5 years)
