The preparation of the advance of the "Special Defence Plan against Avenida de Tenerife" (PDA) in August 2005 by the Tenerife Island Water Council, was an important boost in the study of the risk of floods on the island of Tenerife. The PDA addressed the analysis and diagnosis of the risk of floods on the island and proposed a series of actions in specific sections and locations. To this end, the causes of the risk were identified and described, and their quantitative and qualitative assessment were established. In addition, the PDA proposed standards, guidelines for action and types of corrective, structural, non-structural, informational and emergency measures. From the PDA, the Inventory of Verified Hydraulic Risk Registers of the island of Tenerife emerges, which has been incorporated into the successive Hydrological Plans of the demarcation. This Inventory of Hydraulic Risk Records served as the basis for the Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment (EPRI) of the 1st Cycle (2015-2021) and therefore for the preparation of the Special Flood Risk Management Plan of the Tenerife River Basin District (definitively approved by DECREE 129/2020, of 18 December). The second Flood Planning Cycle, 2021-2027, maintained the ARPSIs identified in the previous cycle, incorporating the rainfall origin of the fluvial-rainwater ARPSIs. Regarding the Inventory of Hydraulic Risk Records, it has not been updated since its identification in the work of the PDA.
