Research project on radicalisation in the context of the Corona pandemic and other current crises
Building on previous research on the course of radicalization, the study will focus specifically on the processes that lead to the abandonment of the familiar social environment and a radical attitude towards the delegitimization of the state. Within the framework of the research project, on the basis of the preparation of the current state of research, the analysis of documents relevant to protest groups on radicalization processes and a subsequent qualitative investigation, explanatory approaches are to be compared and highlighted on the one hand and conditions that are causal for radicalization in the context of the Corona pandemic and up to the legitimation and exercise of violence - especially against state institutions and representatives of the state or the media - range. The exploratory study will examine the biography, psychological structure, possibly causal experiences and socialization of people who have become radicalized and isolated from their previous social environment. For this purpose, a total of 30 empirically qualitative interviews are to be conducted with offenders from the field of corona protests or related milieus/protests as well as with members of the social environment (especially family structures).
