Description:
Procurement of two triple quadrupole inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometers (ICP-QQQ-MS)

Delivery of two ICP-QQQ-MS systems with complete accessories and application instructions

The Federal Institute of Hydrology maintains laboratories for inorganic trace analysis in units G2 (Freshwater Chemistry) and G4 (Radiology and Monitoring). For each of the two units, an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer is to be procured in accordance with the scope of services listed under point 2. In order to fulfil the legal mandate, for qualitative water monitoring and for general analytical quality assurance, robust multi-element methods must be provided, which, in addition to standard metals and metalloids, include analytes C, P, S, rare earth elements and the analysis of isotope ratios. The analyses are carried out in water and in eluates from sediments, rocks and biota. Due to these tasks, samples that are sometimes very matrix-loaded are measured. A special matrix tolerance of the ICP-MS system is therefore a prerequisite. A low signal depression at e.g. high salt loads, as well as good detection limits, even for elements that are difficult to ionize, such as As and Se, are required. In addition to the possibility of analyzing isotope ratios, the control of the intensities of productions in MS/MS operation is essential for method development, especially in the field of unstable isotope analysis.

The detailed provision of the procurement of the service can be found in the procurement documents.
