The city of Bad Neustadt an der Saale is planning to convert the Old Office Cellar into a cultural center.
In the centre of the old town of Bad Neustadt a. d. Saale, the buildings of the old Amtskellerei form a striking special building block in the surrounding, uniform urban structure. As a conglomerate of buildings from different eras, the complex underwent several reshaping and conversions. The oldest part of the building, the so-called High House, dates back to the middle of the 14th century. Major renovations took place in 1570. The most recent part is the crossbar of the three-winged complex in its current form, which, like the southwest wing, was probably originally built in the early 17th century. From 1817 to 1996, the building was used as a prison, which fundamentally changed the appearance of the building. In the future, the city of Bad Neustadt would like to settle various public uses under one roof in the historically significant former Amtskellerei. The primary focal points of use will be the city museum and city library, supplemented by other offers such as event rooms, which will be used by buildings after renovation and will create a central meeting point for citizens and visitors of Bad Neustadt alike west of the market square. The merging of several offers under one roof offers the opportunity for the sustainable conversion of the valuable stock and represents an opportunity to activate the entire district.
The total costs (KG 200 — 700 gross according to DIN 276) are estimated at approx. € 15.0 million - Start of construction is planned for the end of 2024, - Completion and start of use is planned for the end of 2026.
