Avalanche path warnings will describe and warn of avalanche danger for defined avalanche pathways in Honningsvåg and Kuvika, based on data from weather stations and webcams provided by the supplier. Landslide path warnings refer to the probability of naturally triggered landslides that can be so large that they can affect buildings. The landslide warning will provide a basis for assessing the evacuation of the buildings at risk of landslides, and consider banning travel in landslide-prone areas.
The contracting authority for the contest is the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate [Norges vassdrag- og energidirektorat (NVE)], which is responsible for managing Norway's water and energy resources, ensuring a secure power supply and improving society's ability to manage flood and landslide risks.
