The procedure is aimed at entrusting the execution of the restoration and conservation work of the real estate complex in Via Principe Umberto 4, in Rome. The interventions are aimed at enhancing the twentieth century building that was the seat of the first Unified State Mint, in order to redevelop the building by providing for the creation of a multipurpose center , through a mix of functions that, revolving around the main ones (museum and higher education school), restore life to the building by benefiting the urban context in which it is located.
Restoration and conservation work of the real estate complex in Via Principe Umberto 4, in RomeThe redevelopment works involve construction, plant engineering, restoration and structural interventions. At the level of functional system, the center assumes the characteristics of a real cultural center, providing for:
— the creation of a museum that will illustrate the processes and products of the Polygraph and the Mint,
— the transfer of the Mint Museum, flanked and supported by spaces for temporary exhibitions, artistic, cultural and expressive activities, with reference also to the agreements between MISE, MIBACT and MEF,
— the insertion of accessory spaces (refreshment point and IPZS point of sale),
— the creation of a library, also through the recovery of consultation spaces in the basement, which will include the heritage of the State bookstore and the historical archive,
— the strengthening of the School of Medal Art (SAM), with expansion of the areas available for use of the new laboratories,
— the creation of spaces for the presentation and marketing of craft works and for educational activities, ranging from the conception of the work to the product,
— the creation of a conference room and office spaces,
— the inclusion of a guest house and, on the first mezzanine floor, of a restaurant open also towards the roofing terraces.
