The school is based on a single site, but it benefits from a quantity of land held surplus to its requirements and in excess of national guidelines for the provision of playing fields. A master plan has therefore been developed under which the built part of the site will be sold for redevelopment and the proceeds invested in the construction of a new school on what are currently playing fields. The planned opening date of the new school is 1.9.2016. The School will continue to operate from its current premises until the new school is ready to occupy.
The Contracting Authority wishes to appoint a Contractor to deliver and construct the school.
The works package associated with the new school comprises:
— New school buildings,
— Works to existing playing fields,
— Provision of two all weather pitches,
— Access Roads and Car Parking,
— Associated external works including hard paving and landscaping.
The anticipated construction cost of the project is 27 120 000 GBP (exclusive of fees and fixtures, fittings and equipment (FFE).
The form of contract proposed is the JCT Design and Build Contract 2011 which will be a two stage tender and is to be executed as a deed. The anticipated contract duration is 18 months. It should be noted that at the time of tender the design will be at and beyond Stage D.
