The purpose of the contract is to carry out two scientific campaigns to determine the distribution and use of the habitat of cetaceans and, especially the species Physeter macrocephalus (sperm whale), the first in the waters of the Levantino-Balearic marine demarcations and the second in the Canary marine demarcation, as well as the test for new technologies in the Canarian marine demarcation in order to develop a program of measures for the reduction of episodes of collisions of individuals of the species with vessels.

The object of lot 1 is to design and carry out scientific campaigns to identify the distribution and use of cetacean habitat, and especially sperm whales, in the Levantino-Balearic marine demarcation in order to create and test a programme of measures that reduce the risks of collision.

The object of lot 2 is the design and implementation of scientific campaigns that allow to know the distribution and use of the habitat of cetaceans, and especially sperm whales, in the waters of the Canary marine demarcation in order to create a programme of measures that reduce the risks of collision.

The object of lot 3 is to test measures for thermal detection of sperm whales using passive infrared in order to minimize collisions of cetaceans with maritime traffic in the Canary marine area.
