One of the general obligations of both the Medical Council and An Bord Altranais (Hereinafter the “Contracting Authorities”) is that appropriate training is provided for members of Council, Board and external members of relevant committees to ensure they have a proper understanding of their roles and responsibilities in the handling of complaints against registrants, pursuant to parts 7, 8 and 9 of the Medical Practitioners Act, 2007 Part 5 of the Nurses Act 1985 and parts 7, 8 and of the Nurses and Midwives Act, 2011.
Accordingly, in February 2011 The Medical Council, in conjunction with An Bord Altranais, the “Contracting Authorities” conducted a learning and development needs analysis. The design and delivery of the learning and development programme will be a matter for the successful tenderer. Continual evaluation of the Programme will be required by An Bord Altranais and the Medical Council as it is rolled out and delivered.
