The Waldenbuch Castle building is used by the Württemberg State Museum as a branch office and since 1989 the Museum of Everyday Culture has been operated there. It is the largest museum of its kind in the German-speaking world. The building ensemble consists of the castle, the castle barn and the coach house. The castle itself is divided into the old wing, the new wing and the pharmacy extension, which are grouped in a U-shape around the inner courtyard. The building is used for exhibitions, museum educational programs, events, collection depots, warehouses and other serving functions. The historic building needs to be renovated and reorganized. A central theme of the refurbishment is the energy upgrade, taking into account a sustainable approach. As part of the renovation, functional contexts are to be optimized and the museum concept as a whole is to be updated in order to enable a contemporary form of use. In a first step, variants for the implementation of the renovation are to be investigated.
The space program covers approx. 3,991 m² NUF. in the castle, 186 m² in the coach house and 223 m² in the castle barn.
Cost target:
A cost specification of approx. 8.80 million euros gross (KG 300 + 400 incl. special costs according to DIN 276.1:2018-12) is planned for the construction task.
