Description:
E10/ Replacement Ü1 and Ü2

The NDR replaces its two OB vans Ü1 and Ü2 and the associated rescue vehicles with two identical, cross-media production units.

The NDR replaces its two OB vans Ü1 and Ü2 and the associated rescue vehicles with two identical, cross-media production units.

All vehicles are diesel-powered 3-axle motor vehicles, with the best possible emission class and E-standard, with steerable third axle and a permissible maximum mass of 26t. All vehicles have their own electrical system and their own air conditioning system. There is no provision for interaction between the vehicles at this point.

The OB van consists of 3 rooms. There is the sound direction, the picture direction and the image technology. Along the image technology and the picture control room, the OB van has a lateral extension that allows a second row of workstations to be installed there. The sound control room does not have an excerpt so that this room can have the best acoustic properties.

The rescue vehicle also consists of three areas. In addition to the support part in the rear part of the vehicle, the equipment room of the production unit is provided in the rescue vehicle. This is followed by another production room, the "cross-media zone".

The media technology concept provides for a decentralized signal infrastructure. This provides for a uniform manufacturer-immanent infrastructure for video technology and audio technology, both for the networking of OB vans and rescue vans as well as for the connection of play areas. In addition, the two production units can be networked with each other.

Basically, the vehicles should be UHD-capable and HDR-capable. This means that the entire technology is pre-equipped for production in these formats. In delivery condition, the vehicle should be able to produce in the production standard 1080p50-SDR.

The audio infrastructure enables the production of two program signals as multi-channel sound in 5.1 format. In addition, it is possible to accept sources in the format 7.4.1. It requires the generation of two DolbyE streams, combined with the possibility to analyze them metrological and process metadata.

NDR currently prefers a solution that does not insist on an "all-over-IP" infrastructure. The reason for this is that no capacity for know-how transfer has been available so far and can be ensured in the long term. Such a solution is nevertheless permitted. However, this is accompanied by the fact that the Contractor accepts the task of fundamentally qualifying personnel at the Client. Hybrid solutions are also equally permitted. Corresponding concepts must be submitted as negotiation proposals.

The situation is similar with alternative drive systems for the vehicles. An intensive illumination of the technologies with LPG, with H2 and with battery-electric drive has shown that currently technical alternatives for the vehicles are either not ready for the market or not practicable. If a supplier has concepts on how alternative drive technologies can be used without significant functional restrictions, these must in turn be submitted as negotiation proposals.
