The municipalities are responsible for organising clinical veterinary duty services.

The scheme with veterinary duties was established in accordance with the Act from 15.6.2001 no. 75 on veterinary surgeons and other animal health personnel § 3 a.

The scheme with veterinary duties shall ensure that the municipality/municipalities establish a clinical duty for veterinary surgeons in all parts of the country, so that necessary veterinary help can be obtained outside ordinary working hours. The veterinary duty is a necessary part of the stand-by against serious infectious animal diseases and it is important for maintaining good animal welfare.

The award of the duty services has previously been made in accordance with a contract between the Norwegian Veterinary Association (DNV) and KS. The contract expired 1.7.2012. In order to practice the duty scheme in accordance with the current laws and regulations, the contracts between the duty districts and the veterinary surgeons will now be awarded as ordinary procurements.

160 duty districts have been established.

This procurement is for the provision of veterinary duty services in duty district Etne municipality.

Three — 3 - contracts will be signed in the this contract to cover the need for veterinary surgeons in the duty scheme. Further details on the number of contracts that will be signed and the requirements for cooperation between the veterinary surgeons are in point 4.2 below and in the requirement specifications point 6 (Annex).
