The DTZ (RaBE 514) today forms the backbone of SBB's regional transport in the Zurich region. Due to the long-term use, a service life extension is required. Under the project name “Project DTZ Life Extension”, the DTZ fleet is being comprehensively renovated as part of an overall project.
The technical assessment of the vehicle fronts has shown that the front hoods have to be replaced due to aging. The new GRP vehicle fronts must be interface-level and, through a suitable choice of manufacturing process and high-quality design, ensure that repairs are no longer necessary until the end of the vehicle's service life (20 to 22 years).
For more information, see section 4.6.
