Description:
Project 502 Subproject 2: Market, performance and vulnerability analysis for biometric identities on mobile systems (BioID)

Within the framework of the project, a process for continuous market analysis with performance and vulnerability analysis of components for biometric authentication in mobile devices is to be designed and carried out. The project includes the creation of a test methodology for mobile systems and their automation to investigate the largest possible number of different devices. In order to be able to support end users and manufacturers alike in improving security measures, a comprehensive usage survey on user acceptance of organizational measures in biometric authentication is also to be created.

Lot 1: Development and testing of a test methodology for biometric performance and vulnerability analyses on mobile consumer devices

In the advertised subproject 2 Lot 1, a test concept and a test methodology for the biometric performance values and presentation attack detection functionality for the finger and face modalities defined in BSI TR-03166 is to be created. The concept is to be tested as an example within the framework of the project, including the automation and the framework, and, if necessary, iteratively adapted and improved, see point II.1.4.

Lot 2: Software framework for planning, executing and documenting performance tests and vulnerability analyses

In Lot 2, a framework is being developed that is suitable for carrying out black-box testing (performance and vulnerability analysis) of biometric authentication systems. For the framework, there will be a need to create software for robotics, computer vision, signal evaluation and documentation, see point II.1.4.

Lot 3: Development of new manufacturing and presentation methods of artifacts to overcome presentation attack detection (PAD) methods in mobile devices

In Lot 3, it will be necessary to develop and create specialized artifacts, possibly novel materials, for the testing of mobile devices. These must meet qualitative requirements, which is done in Lot 3, see point II.1.4.
