In order to establish state-of-the-art image communication and archiving at the UKR, a hospital-wide archiving system for image-generating and processing systems in the sense of a vendor-neutral archive (VNA) is to be set up, which enables the consolidation of the long-term archiving and image distribution of these systems. For the further development of campus PACS, further departments with imaging modalities and department subsystems will also be connected to the system in the future.
The existing diagnostic and demonstration workstations will initially continue to be used and only successively replaced by new hardware. The PACS vendor is expected to make appropriate recommendations for the hardware as a replacement for the current inventory of diagnostic and demonstration workstations.
The SAN (Storage Area Network) and virtual server infrastructure (VMware) already available in the UKR should at best also be used for the PACS. If no specific hardware is required, the offer would therefore consist only of software and service components.
