The contract is for the manufacturing of steel-based Parks welcome signage including free-standing and rail-mounted signs as well as communication and poster cases.
Consultants appointed by the Council have developed a coherent design strategy including detailed design specification for all of Ealing's parks signage. Ealing Council are now seeking to appoint a signage manufacturer to produce new welcome signage across the Borough according to the outline specification.
The quality of print and colour rendition is of upmost importance to Ealing Council and the Parks Signage project.
The chosen Supplier is therefore required to submit bench mark samples using the supplied artwork file for approval as outlined in the terms and conditions. The bench mark print samples are to be digitally printed vinyl graphics reverse applied to an A4 sheet of 8 mm thick toughened low iron glass with polished and safety edges and an aluminium panel with semi-gloss polyester powder coat finish — Durableone or similar equivalent with polished and safety edges depending what option(s) will be selected.
The digital prints are to be of the highest quality and are to match the quality of print that will be used in production of the signage rollout. The benchmark samples will be used as a control measure though out the project. Any print that does not match the benchmark sample will be rejected and the manufacturer will be required to replace the print at no additional cost.
The contract allows for two options in the outline specification and depending on prices returned Ealing Council will choose either option for the majority of parks. If option 1 will be selected Green Flag parks (16 parks in total) might still be selected for Option 2 subject to prices returned.
Option 1
3 mm think aluminium panel with semi-gloss polyester powder coat finish - Durableone or similar equivalent, installation method: extended legs in concrete foundation
Option 2
Digitally printed vinyl graphics reverse applied to 8mm thick toughened low iron glass, installation method: extended legs in concrete foundation
The Council will provide all artwork for the signage to the successful tenderer in either a high resolution pdf format or Adobe illustrator format.
The contract also includes the following 2 projects:
1. Ealing Council Play Services wishes to replace their playground signs and the contract allows for the manufacturing of 12 no. playground signs for Play Services.
2. Gunnersbury Park is jointly owned by Ealing and Hounslow Councils. The councils are in the process of setting up a Community Interest Company in order to run the site. As such, Gunnersbury has its own branding and requires wayfinding and signage that is unique to the site and varies from the Parks signage. The signage will be consistent in physical style, material and construction with the rest of Ealing's parks signage but the artwork will use different colours, fonts, images etc. The design and artworking of these elements will be carried out by FW Design and detailed drawings and artwork will be provided to the successful contractor by end October 2015.
