ZOB Passenger Enclosure - Technical Equipment Electrical

Planning services (technical equipment according to § 55 ff. HOAI)

for electrical engineering (incl. lightning protection)

at the station forecourt incl. central bus station in Neustadt an der Weinstraße

The county-level town of Neustadt an der Weinstraße, middle center in Rhineland-Palatinate, has around 53,000 inhabitants in a municipal area of approximately 11,700 ha. This makes it one of the three largest cities in the state in terms of area. The station environment is centrally located in the city centre, adjacent to the pedestrian zone, a five-minute walk from the historic city centre. With its main train station, hall building, central bus station, main post office and the neighbouring Hetzel Gallery, it represents the southern functional focus of the city center. Large parts of the station forecourt are currently dominated by motorized private transport (MIV).

The main railway station is the city's most important link between local rail transport (three RB lines, three RE lines and two S-Bahn lines) and buses. With the exception of regional bus line 574 and city bus line 511, all bus and call bus lines stop at the main station. Around 12,800 entrancers and exits (3,100 bus traffic/9,700 SPNV) use the station every weekday, of which around 50% are transfer companies.

The station forecourt, which is important in terms of urban history, and in particular the central bus station, are getting on in years and no longer meet the requirements of a modern public transport connection point. Rather, the station forecourt is characterized by significant design and functional deficiencies.

In 2015 / 2016, a competitive procedure (multiple commissioning) was carried out for the station forecourt. The winning design was the consortium Bierbaum.Aichele.Landschaftsarchitekten / Senger Consult GmbH.

From 2017 onwards, the design planning was developed by Bier-baum.Aichele.Landschaftsarchitekten with the participation of Senger Consult GmbH. The design planning for the station canopies was developed by Schoyerer Architekten_SYRA from Mainz. The structural design for the canopies was carried out by the osd office.

In 2020, the final coordination of the plans with Deutsche Bahn AG took place. In addition, a licensing agreement was negotiated between DB Station&Service AG as the property owner and the city of Neustadt an der Weinstraße, which sets out the framework conditions for further planning, construction and subsequent use of the site.

At the end of 2020, funding was applied for from three funding pots (urban development funding, public transport funding, real-time initiative). Positive funding decisions are the prerequisite for continuing the planning for the project.

The architectural firm Schoyerer Architekten_SYRA from Mainz has been commissioned with the implementation planning of the stop roofs. In the course of this planning, a specialist planning of the electrical systems (lighting, PV system, lightning and earthing systems) is required.
